Leave your wallets at home on Sunday 29 November and take in some classic Scottish culture as Edinburgh’s Filmhouse opens its doors to the public, airing iconic Scottish films for free as part of the Scottish Government’s St Andrew’s ‘DO’ celebrations.

Filmhouse will be showing the 1945 cinematic classic I Know Where I’m Going!, British period drama Mrs Brown starring Judi Dench and Billy Connolly, and the inspirational tale of legendary Scottish cyclist Graeme Obree, The Flying Scotsman.

Moviegoers will also have the rare opportunity to see a collection of short, cinematic gems released from the Scottish Screen Archive. The shorts, which date back to 1928, will be played intermittently between feature films. We’ll also be screening a charming short animation of Tam O’Shanter, created by children from Kaimes School in Edinburgh.

11.15am I Know Where I'm Going plus Tam-o-shanter

1.15pm  Mrs. Brown plus shorts from the Scottish Screen Archive

3.30pm The Flying Scotsman plus shorts from the Scottish Screen Archive

To book your tickets, please visit the Filmhouse Box Office or call 0131 228 2688.

A supply of tickets will be available from today, with remaining tickets being released on Friday 27th November at 10am. Tickets will be restricted to four per person.

Don't forget, there's lots more to 'DO' over the St Andrew's Day weekend. St Andrew Square Garden will host a family festival, offering interactive, creative activities and entertainment throughout the weekend. Set in three tents, the St Andrew's 'DO' will highlight Scotland's achievements, key historical events and famous Scots; Scotland's ambitions and innovation, including science labs, tree planting and Gaelic language and song workshops; a showcase of the best of Scottish produce, accompanied by cookery demonstrations from some of Scotland's top chefs; and a packed programme of music and entertainment.

There’s also a St Andrew’s DO Ceilidh at The Hub on Sunday 29 November and a fantastic Firework display from Edinburgh Castle on St Andrew’s Day itself. You can also visit some of Scotland’s top attractions for free.
