Filmhouse Recommends is our daily pick of three films from the 2015 Edinburgh International Film Festival that we think our audiences will particularly enjoy. Check back each day during the Festival for tomorrow's recommendations!

Paper Planes (13:00, Cineworld)

One of the two family films in this year's new FilmFest Junior strand, Paper Planes begins with Jack and his son, Dylan, struggling to cope after the death of Dylan's mother. But when the young boy discovers the world of paper planes, it leads him to a new talent, finding new friends and propels him towards the world junior championships in Tokyo. But will it also help heal his family?

She's Funny That Way (15:50, Cineworld)

The triumphant return to fiction feature-making for director Peter Bogdanovich (Targets, The Last Picture Show, Paper Moon), She's Funny That Way is a delightful, knockabout romp reminiscent of the director's own screwball masterpiece, What's Up, Doc?. Featuring a strong ensemble cast - which includes Owen Wilson, Imogen Poots, Jennifer Aniston and Rhys Ifans - and a sparkling and witty script, the film revels in its unapologetic farce in a way that is certain to entertain.

Prophet's Prey (18:30, Odeon)

One of the two films from Oscar-nominated director Amy Berg - along with Every Secret Thing - showing at this year's Festival, Prophet's Prey goes inside the dark, unsavoury world of the notorious Warren Jeffs, charismatic leader of a fundamentalist Mormon offshoot known as the FLDS. Under the pretense of preserving the practice of polygamy, Jeffs took upwards of 90 wives, including some as young as 12. This documentary presents an absorbing exposé of Jeffs' chilling mystique, maintained even during his current incarceration.

Ticketholders for Amy Berg's Every Secret Thing can pick up a half-price ticket for Prophet's Prey - simply mention this when booking a ticket for the film from the EIFF box office, either in person or over the phone.
