Filmhouse Recommends is our daily pick of three films from the 2015 Edinburgh International Film Festival that we think our audiences will particularly enjoy. Check back each day during the Festival for tomorrow's recommendations!

The Third Man (14:10, Filmhouse 1)

Carol Reed, Orson Welles, Graham Greene, Trevor Howard, Joseph Cotten, Alida Valli, Anton Karas' zither and a shoelace-loving Viennese cat.

This is the first screening of The Third Man's new 4K restoration outside of Cannes - and you've never seen (or heard) it look this good unless you caught it back in 1949.

That Sugar Film (18:05, Cineworld)

In the tradition of Super Size Me, director Damon Gameau decides to spend 60 days on a high-sugar diet - but doing so only by eating ostensibly healthy foods, such as breakfast cereals, muesli bars or fruit juices. Whilst illustrating the dangers of the these hidden sugars, Gameau also interviews scientists studying the subject, talks to raw food experts and meets a boy with the frighteningly-named condition of 'Mountain Dew Mouth'.

A Separate Wind (18:50, Filmhouse 2)

While on holiday, two Mexican youths are left adrift as their mother suffers a stroke. Travelling 2500 kilometres to reach their grandmother, they are exposed to the full range of experiences the country has to offer - much of it punctuated with violence, death and inequality. An incredible road movie, coming-of-age story and state-of-the-nation drama, Alejandro Gerber Bicecci's A Separate Wind is a film pulsing with rhythm, verve and revelation.
