How do you capture the essence of Scotland in just one film? You invite people all across the country to submit their unique visions in a mass participation project, and combine them into an impressionistic self portrait of contemporary Scotland that is poignant, thrilling, moving, often very funny. Over the eight month production, 1500 submissions were received, 55 film making workshops were conducted, and in total over 50,000 people engaged with the project. The final film features footage, stories and visions from 121 ‘co-directors’ from all over the country and from all walks of life, crafted together by Scottish filmmaker and academic Nick Higgins. There is banter and blether, bike rides and booze, the mundane and the magnificent, beautiful landscapes that take your breath away and ideas that fill you with pride and hope for the future. This is a chance to rediscover Scotland through the eyes and thoughts of the people who live here.

The screening on 3 March will be followed by a Q&A with Nick Higgins.
