COVID-19 Safety Measures

We’ve been hard at work making some changes to ensure your safety, and the safety of our staff. Our staff have been trained on the new measures in place and will be in on hand to help you if you have any questions or specific access requirements.

Current Scottish Government Guidance requires 2m physical distancing in cinemas, which means that people should stay 2m apart from those not in their extended households (unless under 12 or covered by another exception e.g. carer). The only exemption is in our café bar space, where 1m physical distancing applies.

To stay up to date with the current restrictions and guidance for your area in line with the Scottish Government framework, please refer to the Coronavirus postcode checker. Check the travel guidance to find out what travel restrictions currently apply.

  • On arrival at the cinema you’ll be required to check in at the front door and to provide details for Test and Protect.

  • When in the cinema screens, when on your feet and any time you aren’t sitting and consuming food or drink you are required to wear a face mask, unless medically exempt. This is to provide protection for you, our staff and fellow audiences.

  • Where possible we request that you book online and use contactless card payment to minimise interaction with Filmhouse staff. We also recommend, due to severely reduced capacity, that you book in advance to avoid disappointment. Don’t hesitate to call us if you’re having any issues. Our phone lines will be open between 12 noon until 5pm from Monday 24th May.

  • On arrival at the cinema our staff will show our one way system and sanitiser stations, and you’ll notice clear marking and signage throughout our building.

  • Our staff will continue to regularly clean all surfaces throughout the day.

  • All our staff will be knowledgeable about the most up to date Government legislation around Covid-19 and cinemas, and of our own risk assessment, and will be happy to advise if you have any questions.

  • Please note that many of our staff members have not yet had their vaccinations. Please be considerate of this and continue social distancing when you move around the building.

We hope you’ll find that we have applied the most rigorous attention to safety legislation, and that this allows you to feel relaxed and comfortable – and welcome back!

BOOKING TICKETS

When booking tickets online you’ll notice we’re now using a seating plan and that seats are split into groups (or pods) of one, two, three and four. You are required to purchase all the seats in a pod together. If you can’t find a pod size to suit your party our box office staff will be able to help on calling 0131 228 2688 or emailing admin@filmhousecinema.com.

On booking you’ll receive a confirmation email which includes an arrival time.  The arrival time is designed to minimise any queuing or crowding in our cinemas, so you should only arrive at or after the time shown (unless you have a separate booking for the café bar).

Current Scottish Government Guidance requires 2m physical distancing in cinemas, which means that people should stay 2m apart from those not in their extended households (unless under 12 or covered by another exception e.g. carer). Therefore you should not plan to sit in the cinema next to someone who is not in your household.
