With his delightfully salacious The Favourite still fresh in our minds, it seems a perfect time to cast our eyes over the remarkable career-to-date of Yorgos Lanthimos - a director who has become a firm favourite himself in these parts.

Now an established voice in European cinema, over the past thirteen years the Athens-born director has mastered the art of balancing dark themes and elements of profound absurdity. From 2005's peculiar Kinetta, his cinematic route has taken some sharp turns along the way - via Dogtooth's dysfunctional family, the Hitchcockian Alps, the surreal fantasy of The Lobster and brooding revenge thriller The Killing of a Sacred Deer.

Whether you're new to Yorgos or an avid fan, this retrospective promises deadpan hilarity, discomfort and moments of unexpected emotional release in abundance - and isn't that the core of why we love cinema?
