Part of the CinemaAttic Catalan Festival Season
Canto a la vida! A beautiful chant to life!
Standing for a generation to whom financial considerations are a brake on having kids, Els Dies que Vindran is an intimate glimpse of young parenthood. Taking advantage of the actors’ true pregnancy, Director Carlos Marqués-Marcet gets all that is possible from the chemistry between two lovers who have to review their carefree existence. With Els dies que vindran, -just as in his Goya-winning directing debut 10,000 km- he captures all the beautiful and difficult moments of pregnancy.
The film becomes even more powerful when a VHS video tape documenting the pregnancy of actress María Rodríguez is used in the film as umbilical cord connecting three generations of women, making us wonder about the miracle of our existence and the circle of life. The sheer power of cinema at its highest.
“The barrier between fiction and reality breaks down into moments of authentic catharsis” (Hollywood Reporter)
“Cycles of life captured in a film that is truth and representation. A film that is everything.” (Sensacine)
The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Marc Sempere, a Barcelona-based filmmaker and activist.
