Thirty years after finding global stardom in The Wizard of Oz, Judy Garland arrives in London to perform a five-week sold-out run at The Talk of the Town. After working for most of her life, the showbiz star is exhausted and fragile, gripped by a desire to be back home with her kids. As she battles with management and reminisces with friends and adoring fans, her wit and warmth shine through. Even her dreams of love seem undimmed as she embarks on a whirlwind romance with Mickey Deans, her soon-to-be fifth husband. Featuring a show-stopping performance from Renée Zellweger, Judy celebrates the voice, the capacity for love, and the sheer pizzazz of "the world's greatest entertainer."
To celebrate the release of Judy, we're showcasing some of Garland's most iconic roles in our Judy Garland season.
To mark Anti-Slavery Day on Friday 18th November, we will be screening Gordon Napier's short film 1745 ahead of all screenings in lieu of adverts in Cinema 2 and 3. Set in the wilds of 18th century Scotland, two young black slaves escape their master and must use all of their courage and strength to survive, unite and stay free.
