Part of the Kino Dreams - The Reveries of Wim Wenders Season
A film of ineffable sweetness and glorious music, unobtrusively directed by Wenders, Buena Vista Social Club is a documentary of Ry Cooder's ecstatic discovery of long-forgotten Cuban musicians, and how he reassembled them into a wonderful band, named after a defunct but legendary Havana club. Interviews with the band are interspersed with the songs, and their dignity and serenity, and the undiminished virility of their singing and musicianship, are breathtaking.
