Play Poland Film Festival (PPFF) is a two-week celebration (11 - 25 November) of Polish cinema enabling films to be viewed which otherwise would not be possible. PPFF promotes contemporary Polish cinema, art and culture whilst establishing a strong identity for Poland internationally.
The Festival is back after a four-year break with a new format. Due to the recent global pandemic, we developed an online formula using the VOD platform accesable from www.playpoland.org.uk enabling the audiences to watch over 70 films and virtual exhibitions.
This year’s programme revolves around the following axes: society, culture, ecology. PPFF has feature films, student films, drama, animations, documentaries, exhibitions, workshops and interviews to satisfy even the most demanding audiences. There is a extensively diverse programme of Polish features, documentaries, animations, and short films from Wajda School, Katowice Film School, Lodz Film School, WWF Polska and Munk Studio and independent film makers who reviewed and assessed films against our goals and the philosophy and created interesting programme that will satisfy even the most demanding audiences.
Dr Malgorzata Bugaj, who will be introducing the films at Play Poland Film Festival, teaches the course Polish Cinema at the University of Edinburgh's Centre for Open Learning. This is a short course introducing Polish iconic post-war and contemporary directors, running from 19th January 2022.
