We're delighted to announce Scottish brewer Innis & Gunn as Filmhouse's latest House Guest, who will be curating a programme of truly original films that will run from 6 March until 2 April 2020. The brand joins a star-studded list of previous guests including Innis & Gunn fans Irvine Welsh and Ian Rankin, as well as celebrated author A.L. Kennedy and Mercury Prize winners Young Fathers

Innis & Gunn has selected six amazing films based around the themes of perseverance, craft and originality, values that are important to the brewer. Titles such as the 1981’s Gregory’s Girl will be shown alongside contemporary classics The Big Lebowski and Wes Anderson’s multi award winning The Grand Budapest Hotel. Each will be perfectly accompanied by the brand’s flagship beer, The Original, a multi award winner in its own right. Ticketholders will receive a bottle free of charge to savour and enjoy throughout the showings, and there will be associated events in Innis & Gunn’s Tap Room which is across the road from the Filmhouse.

Raymah Tariq, Programme Officer at Filmhouse said:

“Filmhouse are thrilled to partner with Innis & Gunn, our favourite beer and one of Scotland’s tastiest originals, to create a programme that is unique and individual to them.

“A House Guest residency at Filmhouse is always a pleasure to programme, seeing the range and variety of choices of a House Guest gives a glimpse into their inspirations. We look forward to welcoming Innis & Gunn and future House Guests to Filmhouse to see films worth talking about, and share an Original!”

Neil Innis Sharp, Head of Brand Experience at Innis & Gunn said:

"2020 marks our third year partnering with Edinburgh Filmhouse and we’re proud to present a selection of enjoyable, memorable and original films inspired by the beer that started it all for Innis & Gunn: The Original. We were recently named the most recommended beer and cider brand in the UK by YouGov, so recommending some entertaining films feels like the least we could do in return.”

“As you probably imagine there was a lot of debate amongst the team around what should be include as part of our programme, but we’re really pleased with the final selection and know they will complement our flagship beer perfectly.”

The Original is the most awarded bottled beer in Scotland and a six-time Grand Gold winner at world renowned Monde Selection. A liquid unlike anything else, The Original has won over beer drinkers from across the globe with its truly unique flavour profile.

Innis & Gunn developed a unique bourbon barrel ageing process, which uses first fill bourbon barrels to enhance the complexity and depth of flavour in the beer. Complex, smooth, rich, smoky and spicy with notes of vanilla and toffee, The Original has succeeded in consistently defying convention to earn its reputation as the perfect choice for those looking for a beer that’s a little bit different.
