Filmosophy

Filmosophy is a long-running season at Filmhouse of original and thought-provoking films and discussions. Each film is presented by a short introduction and followed by an accessible and informal post-screening discussion. Screenings are introduced and post-screening discussions hosted by James Mooney, Short Courses lecturer and course organiser at The University of Edinburgh. No previous knowledge of philosophy is required.

For more information on screenings and events or to continue the discussion, you can 'like' Filmosophy on their Facebook page or follow @film_philosophy on Twitter.

OUR EDINBURGH
Edinburgh City Film Education Programme - Calling All Edinburgh Teachers!

our edinburgh

Our Edinburgh is a free film education programme that offers practical, hands-on experience in filmmaking. Teachers and pupils will collectively produce their own film, creatively portraying Edinburgh through their eyes. Throughout the programme, a film tutor will support staff and pupils in order to advance their understanding of the technical aspects of filmmaking as well as appreciating film as both a text and an expressive art.

Our Edinburgh is open to all Primary, Secondary, and Special schools run by City of Edinburgh Council. The programme is delivered by Screen Education Edinburgh in partnership with Into Film, Centre for the Moving Image, and the City of Edinburgh Council Arts and Creative Learning Team.  By working together, we aim to provide a more collaborative and cohesive approach to film education in Edinburgh. The programme is absolutely free thanks to funding from Screen Scotland. It is open to all subjects/disciplines, and no previous experience of filmmaking is required.

Through the programme, teachers are offered free CLPL bespoke to their needs as well as support from a SEE film tutor and curriculum linked worksheets. Teachers also benefit from offers from our partners and support from Screen Education Edinburgh beyond the in-class sessions.

We are currently taking applications for the Apr-Jun and Aug-Oct terms and will work with schools to offer something flexible and bespoke to suit their staff and learners. The application deadline is Friday 3 April.
